East Durham Pie
East Durham Pie Company began in owner Ali Rudel's certified kitchen in her home on East Main Street. In just a few short months word got around town and Ali's pie's were voted as finalists for Indy Week's Best of the Triangle "Best Pie in Durham". As demand grew for Ali's delicious pie's, she's now looking to open a Bakery and Cafe space in Old East Durham. East Durham Pie is committed to using local ingredients, paying a livable wage, and simply providing a place were neighbors can get together. Getting to know Ali and her sweet family was a special treat in making this video.
Jenny is a new home owner who's remodeling her 1920 house from the ground up. This project comes in collaboration with Preservation Durham's, an organization committed to protecting Durham/s historic assets through action, advocacy and education. In this video Jenny talks about her experience and why she chose to rehab an old home.
Green To Go
GreenToGo is a reusable take-out container service that reduces waste, diverts trash from the landfill, and aims to improves quality of life for the Durham community. GreenToGo boxes are durable and long-lasting take-out containers which are 100% reusable. They are washed and sanitized in commercial dishwashers. They are used in similar sustainable container programs across the country. They replace the need for the single-use disposable containers (paper, plastic, Styrofoam, etc) that are commonly used for takeout in most restaurants.
Edgemont Freewill Baptist Church
Its always easier to tear something down and build new, there are always investors looking to build the next subdivision, or a chain store, or simply a parking lot. Built in 1936, the former Edgemont Freewill Baptist Church (now Church of the Apostolic Revival) has seen better days, narrowly escaping demolishment in 2016 after being condemned by the city. Having grown up in the church as a young boy, Charles Gibbs, takes us down memory lane of irreplaceable parts of Durham’s history, and reminds us that some things survive in spite of themselves.

Momentum offers students an interdisciplinary perspective on solving some of the world's biggest challenges. The video shows students building and competing with robotic arms. Partnered with NSF Center for Sensorimotor Neural Engineering to "Explore the brain computer interface - explore the world with your mind". The Center explores the brain computer interface; its mission is to improve lives by connecting brains and technology. The course culminates with group presentations to industry representatives.
We spent the day with Jason + Allison exploring Boston and cruising the harbor on the Spirit of Boston. Oh, and they got married, which was awesome ^_^

The Cleveland Holloway neighborhood has seen a lot of changes over the years, Mrs.Leathers would know, she has been a resident since 1966 and raised 12 children with her late husband in their home. Preservation Equity is an effort to empower low-mid income homeowners to retain their historic homes, through free technical assistance and project management via expertise at Preservation Durham, coupled with a flexible home equity loan product offered by Self-Help Credit Union.
